Science Central rings in 2019 | Local | Journal Gazette

Science Central rang in the New Year with its 21st annual Countdown to Noon event today.

A large sheet stretched across the ceiling released 2,019 balloons at noon, which fell into the hands of spectators below.

The event hosted about 1,000 guests. Other activities included face painting and activity tables where guests could make noise-makers and hats.

Martin Fisher, director of science central, said year-after-year, his favorite part is still watching the balloons fall.

“Watching over 2,000 balloons drop down very slowly five stories, it’s breathtaking,” Fisher said. “It’s really cool. It honestly doesn’t matter when you stand.”
