Ripley woman dies in two-car accident


RIPLEY — A head-on collision on Sunday evening on Route 20 has claimed the life of a 22-year-old town resident.

Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies report that before 8 p.m., Ripley Fire Rescue, Westfield Police, and deputies responded to the two-vehicle crash. A westbound vehicle operated by Madison Dunlap of Ripley and an eastbound vehicle operated by 58-year-old Kim Robbins of Fredonia were involved in the accident. Robbins was transported by ambulance to Brooks Hospital in Dunkirk and later transferred to UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pa. Dunlap was pronounced dead at the scene by Chautauqua County Coroner Richard Mackowiak.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team was on scene until just before midnight. The cause of the accident is still under investigation and charges may be pending.
