OVMC/EORH Are on Partial Diversion After Cyberattack

WHEELING — Officials of Ohio Valley Medical Center and East Ohio Regional Hospital today are continuing efforts to remedy a cyberattack on the hospitals’ computer system, while emergency room traffic is being partially diverted.

Daniel Dunmyer, CEO of OVMC, said today, “We’ve made great progress but we are not there yet.”

He added, “The emergency room is now in yellow diversion — meaning the EMS can call in to the ER and we can let them know if it’s a case we can take.”

Emergency squad patients were diverted away from OVMC and EORH over the weekend. The full diversion occurred after the hospitals’ computer system was attacked by Ransomware Friday night.
