Opening the Conversation on Mental Health

(WBRE/WYOU-TV) Mental health is a topic that is in the news quite a bit—but often times- people don’t want to talk about it with friends or family. ((take vo)) The East Stroudsburg Education foundation hosted a panel discussion titled “Mental Health Matters” at the Dansbury Depot. About fifty AP And honor students had an open discussion with experts in the field. The idea of this panel is to get the students to talk and listen to anyone who maybe struggling.

“Resources are a huge piece of what people can then do once the conversation starts. So, it’s essential that we have conversations but that we have the money and resources necessary to actually provide interventions when they’re needed, ” said  Dr. Kim Baranowski, Psychologist

This is the first of three events that are planned by the foundation with the out of the Darkness walk on June 1st at the Monroe Campus of Northampton Community College being the finale.
