It looks like Hollywood success continues to evade Johnny Depp. The once bankable star saw his latest film Alice Through a Looking Glass continue his strain of box bureau bombs, and with a new accusations of wedding abuse opposite him it couldn’t have come during a worse time.
Heading into a weekend Alice Through a Looking Glass was approaching to be means to contest with a latest X-Men film called Apocalypse, though Bryan Singer’s mutant crack fast outpaced it. Alice is a supplement to 2010’s Alice in Wonderland, and while it wasn’t approaching to contest with a original’s $116 million opening, Disney was still anticipating for something some-more than a $28.1 million it finished adult creation this weekend. In a film Depp once again plays a Mad Hatter, while Mia Wasikowska, Helena Bonham Carter, and Anne Hathaway also returned to their roles for a film with a rumoured $170 million budget, nonetheless executive Tim Burton didn’t. The movie received terrible reviews from critics, and interjection to bad word of mouth continued to trend downwards via a weekend.
Alice Through a Looking Glass continues Depp’s downward box bureau slide. In a past several years he’s seen films such as The Lone Ranger, Transcendence, Into The Woods and Mortdecai all wave both critically and commercially. His sole film that he perceived any regard for was Black Mass, though it still under-performed. Part of a reason for Alice’s bad opening could have been Depp’s new PR nightmare. His mother amber Heard filed for divorce final week, and was postulated a confining sequence after claiming wedding abuse.
