Denver Health posts estimated prices for hospital services

DENVER — Have you ever walked into a hospital and wondered what kind of bill you would find in your mailbox a few days later? Now, you’ll have a clearer idea.

Starting on Jan. 1, hospitals will be required to post prices for their services. It will read like a menu of medical options: Procedure, price.

Denver Health recently

published the estimated prices for its services on its website


Services range from a C-section, which costs more than $12,000, to treating chronic kidney disease, which costs almost $4,000, to removing tonsils, which comes with a price tag of about $2,500.

While this transparency helps shed light on what a patient can expect to pay, it doesn’t take insurance, co-pays or deductibles into account.
